Unfortunately for Andrew Smith my prediction regarding his semi-final result was shattered by Chen Jin today. Chen crushed Smith 21-10, 21-5! Ouch, that hurts, especially since he has done well against the Chinese before. Maybe next time.

As for the rest of the semi-finals, well Lee Chong Wei beat Taufik Hidayat again, but this time it was much closer with Lee sneaking it out in 3 games, 21-23, 21-12, 21-19. Surprisingly Lee’s opponent will be the rising star of Denmark, Jan O Jorgensen who defeated Sairul Ayob Amar 21-18, 21-16. On the bottom we’ll have Chen Jin playing Lin Dan who beat Hsieh Yu Hsin 21-16, 21-14.

Lee Chong Wei is a pretty safe bet, but Chen Jin could beat Lin Dan. My money is still on a Lee vs Lin rematch of last week.

Wilson Swiss Open Super Series 2009 Draws

Lee Tsuen Seng must be a big fan of New Zealand by now. He won back in 2006, I’m not sure about 2007, and now he has won again in 2008 at the KLRC New Zealand Open. Lee defeated his teammate Sairul Ayob Amar 24-22, 21-17 to take th title. I’m not surprised, Lee is a strong player. He has struggled to do much beyond the top 20 in the world rankings, but he is capable of the occasional upset. Now what I’m really looking forward to is next week’s China Open Super Series!
