However, the bottom half of the draw is still laden with outstanding players and the match of the first round takes place in the quarter of the draw that Lin Dan was meant to play in, between Chen Long (seeded 7 last week) and Boonsak Ponsana (seeded 8 last week).

A potential Lee Chong Wei against Park Sung Hwan clash awaits in round 2 this week, the Korean was seeded 5 last week and reached the semi finals of his home tournament. Taufik Hidayat plays Jan O Jorgensen in another sensational opening round clash, with Jorgensen hoping to continue his outstanding form from 2009. With the winner of the match having a potential quarterfinal match with Bao Chunlai.

If top seeded Wang Yihan wins her opening match then the possibility of playing the Korean Super Series winner could await her in Round 2 in Wang Shixian. Last week’s beaten finalist Sung Ji Hyun has taken Lu Lan’s place in the main draw and will play Bulgaria’s Linda Zechiri in Round 1.

In the Men’s Doubles, Lee and Jung are seeded 2 as they look for Super Series title number two of 2010. In the Mixed Doubles, Lee and Lee retain the top seed after last week’s shock defeat in the opening round.
