2008 Champion Tien Minh Nguyen defended his title successfully with a three set victory over fourth seed Chong Wei Feng of Malaysia. The 55-minute encounter started with the Vietnamese top seed sail to a one game lead with a 21-7 win in the opener.

The Malaysian rallied to take the second game 21-19, setting up a tense third set. It was Nguyen who took the final game, with a 21-14 victory to retain his Vietnam GP title. In the other finals, Flandy Limpele and partner Cheng Wen Hsing took the mixed doubles title, defeating top seeded Malaysia couple Goh and Chan in two games.

Top seeded Agustine and Wahyuni take the women’s double title after defeating second seeded Thai pair Munkit and Amitrapai in two games. Fransisca Ratnasari, seeded fifth takes the Women’s singles title after winning Tai Tzu Ying in a three set, 62-minute encounter.

The last match was the men’s doubles, 7th seeded Hadiyanto and Riyadi defeated Malaysian pair Hoon and Ong in two tight games to win the title.
