Four seeds remain in the Men’s singles, but second seed Andre Kurniawan Tedjono was a casualty in the quarterfinals after losing out in two games to Tommy Sugiarto 21-16, 21-18. Sugiarto plays Chong Wei Feng of Malaysia in the semi finals.

Tien Minh Nguyen was in quarterfinal action against seventh seed Pakkawat Vilailak of Thailand. Both had come through tough third round games last night but it was Nguyen who came out on top in the quarterfinal match, defeating Vilailak 21-14, 21-8. He sets up a semi final meeting with 9th seeded Indonesian Andreas Adityawarman. The Indonesian took out the last unseeded player, Chu Han Chou 21-16, 21-12 in their quarterfinal match today.

Saturday’s semi final matches are dominated by Malaysia, with nine of the twenty remaining players and partnerships being from Malaysia. Vietnam has local interest in both the men’s and women’s draw and there is a Indonesian bulk to the draw also, with six Indonesian players or partnerships playing on Saturday.

Both men’s semi finals are expected third on their courts, with play beginning at 10am local time on Saturday.
