The Chinese had arrived in force earlier in the week without a repeat of the mass pullout that pledged the Danish Super Series. The rematch between Jorgensen and Gade never happened after Tago’s win over Jorgensen in Round 1 yesterday, but Gade had little trouble disposing of Kenichi Tago, winning 21-18, 21-15.

It was a fantastic day for the Chinese, with every single player and partnership winning on Day 3 apart from one couple that played another Chinese couple in Round 2. Wang Yihan and Wang Lin breezing into the quarterfinals with comfortable wins in under 30 minutes each.

Lin Dan and Chen Jin are into the last 8 of the men’s singles, as well as Bao Chunlai and Chen Long. All four progressing to the quarterfinals in two straight games in their matches, with the possibility of four Chinese players in the semi finals of the men’s singles looming large.

Danish Super Series winner Tine Rasmussen is the first big name out of the women’s singles, beaten by Indonesian Adriyanti Firdasari in three games. She will play Yao Jie in the Quarter Finals on Friday.

Tomorrow provides a fantastic choice of games, from Lin Dan against Joachim Persson to Lu Lan to Wang Yihan, with Anastasia Russkikh playing with yet another partner in the Super Series and making it again to the Quarter Final stage.

Bao Chunlai against Peter Gade promises to be a fabulous match, Chen Long against Taufik Hidiyat as well as the unknown quantity of Olga Konon of Poland in the Women’s singles against local favourite Pi Hongyan in another of the women’s singles quarterfinals.

Play begins tomorrow at 4pm local time.
