While the Denmark Open was originally expecting 25 Chinese players the contingent has now been cut down to only 8. The reason cited on the official tournament website is that the recently concluded Chinese National Games placed a heavy demand on the Chinese team, and as a result they have sent a smaller contingent. This leaves a lot of room to breathe for the remaining players in the draws, most notably hometown favourites Peter Gade and Tine Rasmussen. Gade and Rasmussen are both the top seeds in the mens and womens singles.
