After day one of the Denmark Open, the locals have to be happy with their players. The Danish team have several players and teams moving on to the next round. The highlight for the crowd appeared to be Peter Gade’s opening match against Sweden’s Henri Hurskainen. While the match was brief, you could tell by the crowd’s enthusiasm that they were excited to see the local hero play. Another great performance was rising star Jan O Jorgensen’s win over his compatriot Hans Kristian Vittinghus. The day wasn’t all good news for Denmark though as Lotte Bonde was rushed to hospital with a suspected knee injury.

One of the big surprises for the day came from Germany’s Marc Zwiebler who upset Malaysia’s Wong Choong Han in three games. This was the second disappointment in a row for Wong who lost at last week’s Dutch Open to Rajiv Ouseph in spite of his top seeding.

On another note, we have to commend the Denmark Open’s website. They have done a great job producing these videos from almost every player after their match, as well as the live streaming.
