Macau Grand Prix Gold 2008: Taufik Hidayat Takes Out Lee Chong Wei to Regain Form

After a poor year Taufik Hidayat finally pulled out a good performance beating Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei 21-19, 21-15. China’s Chen Jin and Bao Chunlai both withdrew from this event, however Chen Hong did play, but eventually withdrew (due to injury I’m guessing???) from his match against Lee Chong Wei in the quarter-finals. Kuan Beng Hong from Malaysia had a notable performance making the semi-finals, but he was beaten pretty badly by Taufik. Kuan Beng Hong was being touted as Malaysia’s next top player before cracking under pressure at the 2006 Thomas Cup against Denmark’s Joachim Persson.
