As it often seems to be the case, these lower grade grand prix tournaments are rarely full of surprises, and this weeks KLRC New Zealand Open is no different. So far as we enter the quarter-final stage the only seed to fall in the men’s singles is Ethan Haggo, who by the way I have never heard of before. Other than Haggo the only other seed not still playing at this stage is Roslin Hashim who has withdrawn the event (injury, too busy???). What I would like to see is the young Indo Tommy Sugiarto (son of Icuk Sugiarto, old school famous badminton player) beat Sairul Ayob and Lee Tsuen Seng. I’m dying to see some new blood break it’s way into the top 10!
